The LPC Partnership Program Evaluation (2021-2024)

Jul 22, 2025

For the past 12 years the Listening Post Collective (LPC) has partnered with communities to develop the locally driven news and information solutions they need to thrive. Through local partnerships, cross-sector collaboration, and direct investment, we’ve supported community-led media solutions that close information gaps, build trust, and strengthen civic health.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by BIPOC and immigrant media leaders, such as institutional bias, lack of networks, and limited technical and business support, the LPC launched a year-long listening session in 2020 with 10 outlets to hear their needs around building their outlets and their ideas for serving their communities with tailored approaches to news and information. The ensuing three-year partnership program, launched in 2021, brought those same outlets together to provide tailored coaching support, guidance on strengthening their civic media projects, and a chance to build power together, as media founders with unique goals and experiences.

This report synthesizes findings from the program, shares partner feedback on their experience working with LPC, and includes takeaways for how best to collaborate with civic outlets serving BIPOC and immigrant communities.
